To better describe the nature of this blog and the updates provided on this website, the name has been changed to "Education Disaster Information System" or EDIS. EDIS plans to provide a full-featured disaster information system for the education sector before, during, and after a disaster situation. Initially, during Phase 1, the people providing updates will be members of the General Education Online Emergency Operations Center, and posting will be closed except to those members. In future phases, additional capabilities will be made available, including the ability for schools to provide regular updates directly, and to tie the system more closely to the findaschool.org portal.
We're still in the very early design phases for EDIS, but we are committed to continue working on and improving the system. As part of our commitment to EDIS, we will be providing a project website in the near future.
